Simona Cominelli is an Italian flutist from Brescia. She began playing the flute at the age of seven. Recognising her talent at an early stage, her first flute teacher encouraged her to enter the Conservatory of Brescia, where she enrolled in 2009. There she studied with flute professors Walter Guindani and later Mauro Scappini.

In 2014, at the age of sixteen, Simona performed as piccolo soloist with the Wind Orchestra of Cazzago San Martino. In the same year, she was awarded First Prize at the National Competition of Bardolino.

After obtaining her Flute Diploma in 2017, she moved to France to continue her musical education. She joined the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Rouen under the guidance of her mentor Jean-Christophe Falala and developed an intensive orchestral and chamber music career in collaboration with the Opéra de Rouen Normandie, the Conservatoire of Rouen, and the University of Rouen Normandy. In 2020, she graduated with the highest distinction.

Later that year, Simona moved to Belgium to study at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels with flute professors Baudoin Giaux and Isabelle Bialek. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Flute in 2022 with the highest distinction, followed by her Master’s degree in Flute in 2024.

In 2023, she was selected as a finalist for the Professione Orchestra project organised by RAI, where she had the opportunity to take part in an intensive orchestral training programme under the guidance of Alberto Barletta, Principal Flute of the RAI National Symphony Orchestra.

In 2025, she completed a specialised Master’s programme in Contemporary Music at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, studying with Chryssi Dimitriou and Igor Semenoff of Ensemble Ictus, graduating with great distinction. In 2026, she obtained her Educational Master’s degree from the same institution, also graduating with great distinction.

Throughout her career, Simona has performed in Italy, France, Belgium, and China. Alongside her classical training, she has a strong interest in jazz, rock, and pop music, reflecting her curiosity for a wide range of musical styles and artistic collaborations.

She is currently active as a freelance flutist, performing in orchestral, chamber music, educational, and contemporary music projects across Europe.

Driven by curiosity rather than musical labels, Simona enjoys exploring different artistic languages and collaborating across genres, believing that her work is at its most meaningful when it transcends stylistic boundaries.
